Worshippers bathe there before the darshan. Haleshwar Sthan About 3 km north-west of Sitamarhi The gateway and the temple are the best-known photograph in the district after Punaura. The places the district itself lists

The district portal names six places of interest: Punaura Dham, the Janaki Temple, Haleshwar Asthan, Bagahi Dham, Baba Nageshwar Nath Mandir and Gahraul Sharif. The first three are within a few kilometres of the town and can be walked or driven in a morning.

The year's traffic is devotional rather than touristic. Maa Sita Navmi in the spring and Vivah Panchami in the autumn bring the crowds, and Shravan Mondays fill the road to Haleshwar Sthan.
